Born in Tasmania, John was a natural sportsman from day one, playing cricket and Aussie Rules, it was then that John discovered golf.
In 1988 John decided to pursue golf as his preferred sport and the results started almost immediately with John representing Australia in the 1990 Eisenhower Trophy in New Zealand. John then went onto win the coveted Swiss Amateur in 1991.
As a professional John shot to prominence at The Greg Norman International at The Lakes Golf Club in 1993 where he went head to head with two-time US Open Champion Curtis Strange over the final day and finished a credible second.
His best international finish was a Top 10 result at the 1998 German Open on the European Tour.
In 2013, Wade qualified and competed in The Open Championship after shooting a 63 in the final round of 36-hole Local Final Qualifying at Dunbar in Scotland.
The 2014 Perth International saw John shoot one of the best rounds of his career – a flawless opening round of 64 for a share of the lead.
At Banner we are proud to be associated with John and support him in his golfing pursuits.
